Guest Trip Report: November 18, 2019 Very Merrytime on the Disney Dream – Day 2

February 8, 2020 by Disney Cruise Mom Leave a Comment

This trip report was written by Douglas, who sailed a back-to-back on the Disney Dream beginning on November 18, 2019 on 2 Very Merrytime cruises from Port Canaveral. You can start the trip report from the beginning by clicking here.

Day 2:  Nassau

On this day I woke up just after 6:00 before getting ready for the day.  When my mother went to use the shower she spent a good 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get the water to be warm since she kept switching the knob without giving the water a chance to change temperature.  Around 7:30 Nassau was in sight:

This morning we went to Enchanted Garden for breakfast. The breakfast itself is buffet style and was pretty good.  I’m not quite sure what we did after breakfast but I did get to see the Princess Gathering. The princesses in attendance were Belle, Rapunzel and Tiana.

After this I got ready for my stone massage at Senses Spa. No pictures here since I kept my phone in the locker and I thought it would be a little rude to be taking photos in there so I’ll just tell what it was like doing a Senses spa treatment.

I checked in and was taken over to the men’s locker room to put my clothes and belongings in the locker and get my robe on. Afterwards I headed to the waiting area. It was so nice and relaxing in there since it was quiet, with spa music playing, and there was a drink station with water, lemon water, tea and coffee. The chairs were very comfy and soft. While in here you fill out a form to let your treatment specialist know if you’ve got any pains to address, have had surgery recently and other medical concerns.
After a few minutes my massage specialist (I forgot her name but she was from Zimbabwe and so nice) arrived and took me to the room where my stone massage would happen. She asked me some clarification on stuff (like where she should do a little focus treatment on) before she left the room so that I could disrobe and get on the table to start relaxing.  I don’t remember every little thing she did but the stuff I do remember were a little aromatherapy, brushing me down to let the oils sink in easier and working on my back, limbs and a little on my face.

The whole treatment took about 45 minutes from start to finish and was worth it. Now I did get $50 off thanks to the gift certificate I got the day before but I’d definitely pay full price if I did this again. Just to let you know, gratuity is automatic so remember that.  Once I was done I headed back to the locker room and took a quick shower to get the excess oil off.

I was feeling a tad hungry after this so before going to meet my parents in Pub 687 for Villains Quote Trivia, I stopped by Cove Cafe for a pastry.  By the time I got to Pub 687, the trivia was already over and my parents lost. Even if I hadn’t stopped for the pastry I would have missed it, so I was bummed.

We stayed in Pub 687 for the origami activity. There were only a couple of other people so it was a little intimate.  The creations we made were a cat:

And the hardest of all: the Epcot ball!

Afterwards we headed to Royal Palace for some lunch.  I just love the bread basket here!

After eating lunch we went to Animator’s Palate for gingerbread cookie decorating.  They used to do gingerbread houses, but now have changed it to cookies.

My creation:

Overall the decorating was okay. The icing was so hard it couldn’t even spread and because the icing bag is already cut it wasn’t easy to try kneading it to make it softer. The candies themselves were also pretty tough to bite and the cookie itself didn’t taste that good. I wouldn’t recommend doing this activity at all.

After making terrible gingerbread men we headed up to Pub 687 for a button-making class. Everyone was given a small circle of paper to draw on and the person running the class put them in a button machine to turn them into buttons.

We stayed to watch “Making of the Dream”:

One thing mentioned was the name of the pub itself. 687 was the code name used to refer to the Dream when it was being built. Pretty neat.

We did some wandering around at this point.  There was this neat thing at the bar by the atrium:

I also took some photos of the gingerbread house.

The gingerbread house was adorable and so cute! It makes one wonder how long it takes to put this together.  The wandering took me and my mom to the outdoor area on deck 4 while my dad went back to the room to rest until dinner.  While walking I saw this hidden Mickey:

The outdoor entrance to the District area:

We were getting close to departure by this time though we hadn’t departed just yet.  Atlantis is so pretty with the sunset behind it:

The only other ship in port was the Navigator of the Seas:

When we got over to the side where the Navigator was, the ship started to depart.  As we were gliding by the Navigator there were a lot of moons seen through the verandas and portholes, enough to make a werewolf wary. It’s surprising how many people will wander around their staterooms naked and with the curtains open.

Anyway as we starting walking to dinner I couldn’t help taking this shot of the lighthouse:

Dinner tonight was at Enchanted Garden. The food is more ‘healthy’ but it’s so delicious even if you’re not health conscious.  I love the Wonderland flowers on the menu:

When we had returned to the room there were some robes waiting for us. We couldn’t figure out who they came from. They were a size under for us so we sent them to my sister and her boyfriend as Christmas presents.

After this we went to go watch Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. It was pretty good and a good follow up to the first, even if it was a little predictable.  Afterwards we headed back to the room to get ready for Castaway Cay in the morning.
