Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats on the Disney Dream

February 20, 2017 by Disney Cruise Mom Leave a Comment

When the Dream went into dry dock in October 2015, the arcade next to Cabanas was replaced with Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats, a Wreck It Ralph-themed ice cream and sweet shop.  I saw it for the first time on our October 2016 cruise (trip report here) and I took lots of pictures so I thought I would share them with you.  The theming was very well done, and I thought that the selection was great as well.  I was pleasantly surprised that most of the prices seemed reasonable (everything in this shop is an extra charge in addition to your cruise fare) and my kids loved everything about it.  We visited Vanellope’s twice during our sailing.  The first time was on the first day, right after we boarded the ship and found it completely empty as we walked past it to get to the pool.  We just oohed and aaahed that time but didn’t buy anything.  Instead, we decided to go back later during the cruise after dinner for dessert one night, which we ended up doing on pirate night.  The first time we walked through, I took lots of photos since it was empty.

They have prepackaged candy on the shelves in the center, as well as bulk candy sold by weight on the wall to the right:

There are cases of baked goods and candies as well.  This guy was super nice and chatty, although I can’t remember his name.

They have both ice cream (16 flavors) and gelato (20 flavors).  This is the gelato display.  I only tried the mango (delicious!) but wanted to try them all.

Here is another view of the bulk candy display from the other end of the shop.

There is a cute photo op area as well:

When we went back a few nights later to get some dessert after dinner (we had early seating), we were once again the only ones there.  We told the girls that they could each pick out one thing.  I got the mango gelato, and the older 2 chose some bulk candy.  The other three all wanted ice cream, so Andres behind the counter talked them into this since it had three scoops, one for each of them:

This is called Vanellope’s Go-Kart Sundae and comes with a souvenir go-kart dish.  I think it was $12.95, which broke down to about $4 per person which I didn’t think was too bad.  I don’t remember how much we spent on the bulk candy except that it was lower than I expected.

Here is Andres making it:

Overall I like Vanellope’s a lot and think it is a huge improvement from the arcade, which I think was not used much.  I can’t speak for the quality of many of the items other than to say they looked great, but we enjoyed everything that we tried.  Next time we are on the Dream I think we will visit once or twice and sample a few more things.
