Key to the World Card Explained

April 15, 2019 by Disney Cruise Mom 2 Comments

There’s quite a lot of information included on your Key to the World card.  This is the card that you will receive when you check in at the cruise terminal and it serves as your room key and payment method onboard the ship and at Castaway Cay. You must also bring it with you every time you leave the ship, because port security will ask to see it to get back into the secure port areas.  When we first started cruising, I had no idea what a lot of the information meant, so I thought I’d break it down for you.  Here are 2 of our previous cards and descriptions of what everything means:

The dining rotation is listed with the first letter(s) of each restaurant, in the order that you will rotate each night.

E = Enchanted Garden

R = Royal Court/Palace or Rapunzel’s Royal Table

A = Animator’s Palate

L = Lumiere’s

TP = Tiana’s Place

T = Triton’s

FYI, you can read all about onboard dining here, and assigned dining times here.

If you have purchased Disney transfers to the port, airport, or a WDW resort, that will be noted on the upper right side of the card.

Your lifeboat station will have a designated letter, and you can find the location of that meeting place by looking at the back of your stateroom door before the mandatory safety drill at 4:00 on the first day.

Here is another card that was for my daughter, so there are a couple of differences (other than the fact that it is gold, which means you are sailing in a concierge stateroom):

As you can see, it notes that she is a minor and also that we did not giver her charging privileges for her card.

I hope this helps answer some questions that you might have had otherwise!

    Never knew about “number of check in line at terminal” what does this mean? Is it something we have to know or just the people behind the desk?

      Every check-in counter at the terminal has a designated number so this just documents which counter you checked in at, and therefore which CM checked you in. I’m not sure why it is important – that’s a great question! Maybe just in case of a problem?
