My Alaska Cruise Video

August 6, 2018 by Disney Cruise Mom 6 Comments

I used to make videos of our vacations, but I’ve been slacking off lately and haven’t made one in several years.  It really is a great way for us to be able to go back and relive the experience, so I’ve started up again.  I’m super busy right now, so I didn’t spend as much time on it as I probably should have, but I think it turned out pretty good.  This is for the Alaska portion of our recent back-to-back (you can read the full trip report here), and I will be making a video for the Pacific Coast part of the trip shortly.  Since cruising to Alaska is all about the destination, and not so much the ship, I didn’t include much in terms on onboard activities, but focused more on the ports and scenery.  I wish I could have included more onboard stuff, but it would have made it too long.  As it is, I wish it was shorter, but there was so much that I just could not leave out.

I do also want to apologize that most of the video was shot vertically, which doesn’t work so well for iMovie, but works great for Instagram stories, which is what I had in mind when I was taking the videos.  Oh well, now I know better for next time.  The vertically-shot videos appear rather small in this movie, so I recommend viewing it on a computer or tablet rather than a phone, if possible – you’ll be able to see much more detail.  Enjoy!

Great video, really really like your music choices. Love the last song, who is the group that sings it? From your music message I’m sure you’ll be “going back home again” to Alaska. Just like us, three trips back and we still want to return on the Wonder. The video brought back so many good memories of our recent trip. Great blog!

Hi Deann! That song is from The Greatest Showman soundtrack. All of the music from that movie is really good. While I would love to return to Alaska, I have a hard time repeating a vacation because there are just so many more places that I want to see. But, Alaska is the one place so far that has made me think twice about that philosophy. We may go back someday, but probably not for a while.

Very cool! Can I ask what you use to put the video together? And were all the videos and photos taken with your phone?

Hi Maryanne! I used iMovie to make the video. All of the video footage was taken with my phone, and the photos are a combination of my phone and my Olympus TG-1.
