Guest Trip Report: January 20, 2019 Southern Caribbean on the Disney Wonder – Day 2

March 6, 2019 by Disney Cruise Mom Leave a Comment

This trip report was written by Holly, who sailed the Disney Wonder on January 20, 2019 on a 7 night Southern Caribbean cruise from San Juan, Puerto Rico. You can start the trip report from the beginning by clicking here.

Day 2: At Sea

Today we intentionally planned a relaxing day to recover from our days of traveling. It was nice to have a day without a lot of plans to relax explore the ship. On a previous cruise we’d had the opportunity to visit Tortola and because we had three other ports to see on this voyage, we decided to skip any planned excursions here.

Here is the daily navigator:

After a good night’s rest, we awoke to a rainy morning. We had a quick breakfast in Cabanas and afterward my husband went back to our stateroom to call Guest Services to let them know that the battery that operated the lock in our room safe was low. They promptly came to fix it. The night before we saw and smelled a balcony neighbor openly smoking a cigar – which is strictly prohibited! Once we informed Guest Services they quickly addressed it with the offender and we didn’t have any other issues. Guest Services also called and stopped by to let us know they had taken care of it and to let them know if it happened again. We were both really impressed with their response and how quickly they acted.

I spent the rest of the morning reading my book at various spots on Deck 10 and watching Lilo and Stitch on Funnel Vision.

The weather cleared up and was warm and sunny! I enjoyed my book and a Mimosa all to myself on Deck 4.

For lunch I went to Triton’s to enjoy another sit down lunch. Here’s the menu:

The tomato-glazed meatloaf looked interesting so I decided to try it. It was delicious and the fresh strawberry mille feuille was a very tasty dessert.

After lunch, it was time for my massage! The day before I had booked the 75 minute aroma stone massage. I had read mixed reviews about massages on board and I knew I would need to be clear about requesting no product sales, which I wrote on the forms I received prior to my massage. The massage itself was wonderful! The massage therapist was great at listening to me and increasing or decreasing pressure when needed and hot stones felt fantastic. Toward the end of the massage I could hear jumping and stomping right above my treatment room – the massage therapist let me know that the basketball courts were located above us. It was noticeable but not too distracting and was why I would overall rate the experience a 9/10.

If you’re undecided about whether or not to get a massage, I say it’s worth the splurge and be sure to write that you don’t want any product sales on your forms.

This evening’s show was The Golden Mickeys, which we’d never seen it before. It was cute and corny. Afterward, we met our new friends from yesterday for a drink in the Cadillac Lounge before our dinner at Tiana’s Place. I had a the lentil soup, steak, and the chocolate cake for dessert. I forgot what my husband got, but we both enjoyed our meals. During dinner we listened to the Crawfish Crooners play and admired all of the details from The Princess and the Frog that were part of the restaurant decor and plates.

After dinner, we took a walk on Deck 4 which is one of our favorite things to do. We like the chance to walk off our dinner, talk, and see a different side of the ship. It’s usually deserted in the evenings except for a few smokers.
