Our Suite at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

April 30, 2015 by Disney Cruise Mom 2 Comments

We visited WDW in 2015 and stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort.  I had never stayed there before, and this is not a resort that I would probably have chosen to stay at otherwise (although we ended up loving it!), but my husband was attending a convention at the resort and the girls and I were tagging along.  And let me tell you, we REALLY lucked out.  Because of a mistake made by the hotel, they upgraded us to the largest type of suite they have – the executive suite.  We were super excited because, while doable, having all 5 of us (and our stuff) in a standard hotel room for 7 nights is not ideal.  We were also super excited because, let’s face it – we have never stayed in a hotel room that large (1570 square feet!).

We stayed in room 1187 and it was in Casitas 1 building, which is the building closest to the lobby.  There were basically 5 different sections to the room.  When you first walk in there was a huge foyer:

At the back of the foyer area was a large half bath:

To one side of the foyer was a living area with a queen sofa bed.  This sofa bed had something I had never seen before: a memory foam mattress.  It was insanely comfortable for a sofa bed.  Here are pictures with the bed both pulled out and put away:

Beyond the living area was a door to a bedroom (standard hotel size) with a king bed and large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub:

On the other side of the foyer was a dining area with a bar top, Keurig coffee maker and small refrigerator.  We also requested a microwave:

Beyond the dining area was another standard size bedroom/bathroom, this one with 2 queen beds:

One thing we did on this trip that we had never done before was order groceries to be delivered to our room, and let me tell you, WE LOVED IT!!!  Now I cannot imagine NOT doing it!  We didn’t have the dining plan, so being able to eat breakfast or lunch (and sometimes dinner) in the room and take all of our own snacks and drinks into the park saved us a ton of time and money.  We ordered a case of bottled water, cereal, milk, juice, bread, peanut butter, oatmeal, bananas, yogurt, cheese, and various snacks for the girls, and a few other things.  Of course, make sure your room has a refrigerator (and microwave if you need it) before ordering cold stuff.  I thought the prices were reasonable, and I scheduled the stuff to be delivered a few hours before I knew we would be arriving from the airport.  The groceries were delivered to bell services, who refrigerated the cold stuff for us.  When we got to our room, I just called and asked them to deliver them to our room.  It was great!  We will always do this from now on.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Coronado Springs resort.  It has beautiful grounds and an amazing pool area, but a lot of people do not like how far apart all of the buildings are.  We were lucky and our building was right next to the lobby and food court/restaurants, but if you end up in a building farther away, there could be a lot of walking involved to reach the main pool or lobby.  There are shuttle stops, parking lots, and smaller pools spaced throughout the resort, so getting to the main lobby/food area/convention center building is really the only issue.  However, I did see a lot of people being given rides on golf carts, so this seems to be a service provided by the resort to lessen the inconvenience.

On this trip we also did a private VIP tour at Disney World which you can read about here:

Do you mind mentioning what grocery service you used? I have heard a couple of different ones mentioned online and everyone seems to have their preferences.

Sure! We used GardenGrocer.com and were very pleased. Their communication with me was excellent (phone call after order was placed, text when groceries were dropped off at hotel, email asking if order was correct). I forgot to mention that I brought a ziploc bag full of plastic silverware from home, as well as a few plastic cups and bowls. You could have ordered paper ones though, and we did order a roll of paper towels.
